Bushcraft Survival Series Campfires in Snow Sunday, February 12th 1PM-3PM
Building and maintaining a fire in snowy conditions can be very difficult, but crucial in a emergency situation. During this program we will examine different styles of fires that you can use during the colder months, and when there are wet conditions to keep you warm and comfortable. Program fee:$5.00/person
Bushcraft Survival Tarp Versatility Sunday, March 18 1PM-3PM
A tarp is a simple, light weight, inexpensive, versatile item of gear that should be considered in your day pack. During this program we will explore the various uses for a simple square sheet of fabric. We will also examine a variation on the tarp; the poncho.

Bushcraft Survival Guerrilla Gardening Sunday May 20 1PM-3PM
What is “guerrilla gardening”? It encouraging the growth of beneficial wild edible plants in such a way that it looks like it is naturally occurring. We will hike around Hartman Reserve looking for wild edible plants and talking how you can enhance and encourage their growth for your benefit, and for the general well being of the environment. This program is a new twist on an old theme! Program fee:$2.00/person
Bushcraft Survival Improvised Raft Sunday, June 3 1PM-3PM
When Chris McCandless, of “Into the Wild” fame, or infamy, tried to return to civilization he found his path cut of by a river that had risen due to flooding. A raft might have saved his life. During this program we will look at how to improvise a small raft with minimal equipment. We will meet at the Hartman Reserve Nature Center Parking lot, then car pool to the south boat ramp at Big Woods Lake in Cedar Falls. Program fee:$5.00/person
